It was originally for the attendees of the Future Music Business panel at the
IBMA World Of Bluegrass Oct 1-7, 2007. Watching these videos, reading these
blogs and articles will teach you how to collect and share information with your band members,
label personnel and fans. It will also give you an insight to the mindset of those who are aware of
and on top of the changes the music business, and the economy in general, are undergoing.
Updates will happen fairly frequently so check back every week or so. Feel free to share this Wiki
with whomever you wish.
This is the new music store. If you don't have it, get it.
It's free. Get familiar with it.
Gmail is the email app most of the people you saw on the panel use. The address they give you may say BlahBlah@SoAndSo.com
instead of BlahBlah@Gmail.com. That's because Gmail allows you to specify an address other than your Gmail address to use.
So you can use Gmail and use your personal .com email address and no one will know the difference.
What makes Gmail so potent is its ability to save and recall EVERY email you ever send or receive and categorize and search for it easily.
You never have to delete any email forever due to the enormous amount of storage space it gives you for free. It also allows you
to use their awesome calendar that you can share with business associates and clients. Google Docs, Reader and Blogger come
with it not to mention the ability to upload and save loads of high quality photos. Yahoo email is good too but it doesn't give
you all the bells and whistles you get from Gmail.
